World Disability Day -

ARI will lead in line with the Institute’s Mandate in carrying out commemorations of this important day World Disability Day, every 3rd December, of each year.

Disability Survey -

ARI does carry out assessment studies. In 2004 a major survey on disability was carried out in four Southern Africa Regional countries; Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique and Zimbabwe. The Regional Disability Survey was completed in April, 2006. Details are found elsewhere on the Website or from ARI on request.

Affiliate Members

Outside ARI Member States who are African Union (AU) Member countries ARI is officially launching an affiliate membership. This is open to individuals, United Nations Specialised Agencies such as ILO, UNESCO, Institutions, Organisations, Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs), Universities and Public Training Institutions and Finance Institutions who participate and or finance projects which has to do with disability in Africa or touch on disability issues such as empowerment, inclusion programmes, and developmental programmes for PWDs e.t.c. ARI collaborates with Secretariat of the African Decade for Disability based in South Africa. The Institute is now in the process of creating a formal affiliate class of memberships to improve on relationships and cooperation with other Organisations.
